It may be expressed in many forms including religion and spiritual beliefs. Problems can arise in the workplace when it comes to these. People may feel alienated if they are of one particular religion and their colleagues are of another. They could come into direct conflict with employers or employees and feel discriminated against if their colleagues refuse to accept their beliefs. To solve this problem we see it as necessary to educate the workforce to be sensitive towards differences in beliefs. Workplaces could accommodate by recognising holidays, allowing prayer breaks and accommodate for dietary and dress requirements. 3) DIVERSITY OF RACE As was the case with religion, discrimination leaves people feeling alienated and devalued. This could reduce productivity for the business and without doubt reduce staff morale and enthusiasm. There are many steps management could take to create a diversity friendly work environment. For example, many cultures have names that people from other countries find difficult to pronounce. So instead of pronouncing the name incorrectly or asking the person to assign themselves a nickname, just take a moment to listen carefully and learn the correct pronunciation of their actual name. Also, avoid making race-related jokes and don’t assume that stereotypes are true. A change from a Republican Party to Democratic Party could mean projects getting cancelled due to one politician s view of importance over another s. Hypnosis (674 words) Essay Example For Students

Hypnosis (674 words) Essay HypnosisannonOver the years, hypnosis has overcome a lot of skepticism. Thisresearch paper will explore the art, use, and questions about hypnosisboth in recreation and in therapy. In this paper, you will learn whathypnosis is, different types of it, and different techniques for using it. Hypnosis, as defined by Roy Hunter, is a natural state of mind, induced in everyday living much more than it is induced artificially. Another definition by Hunter is guided meditation. Many people do notrealize this, but you can be hypnotized by many things. Anytime youbecome engrossed in a book or a movie, you may enter a sort of meditativetrance. There are different techniques for induction into a hypnotictrance. One is eye fixation. This simply uses a fixed gaze, and was verypopular in the 1800s and is most commonly used by Hollywood. Another isprogressive relaxation or imagery. You have someone imagine being in asafe or peaceful place, and then awaken to full consciousness. Anotherinduction method is the mental confusion method which confuse theconscious mind to the point where it just lets go and becomes relaxed. Another one is shock to nervous system. This technique is commonly usedby stage hypnotists and it is employing a sudden exited command in asurprising way. The participant will experience a moment ofpassivity(Hunter)where theyll either resist the trance or let go intohypnosis. Hypnosis also has some useful situations. One would be in the areaof memory. When you are entranced in the hypnotic state, your sense ofmemory is enhanced. Although this is true, the things which areremembered can not be regarded a truth. Sometimes when a person isentranced, they will remember things that never actually happened, buthave great personal significance. One area that has caused tremendous controversy is in the area ofhypnotizability. The question has been raised many times if there arecertain people who can be hypnotized and certain people who cannot behypnotized. There are indeed people who can and cannot. The only thingit depends on is how well you can focus. People who have better focusgenerally have better results with hypnotizability, and people who have aharder time focusing generally tend to be less susceptible, as a generalrule. Although hypnosis is totally safe as long as your hypnotist iscompetent and trustworthy, some skeptical people still have fears andconcerns. This, once again, all relies on how ethical your hypnotist is. Some people also think that people lose control of their actions when theyare hypnotized. In a way, you do lose control. From what Ive learned, you enter what Id describe as an uninhibited state where things thatyou would normally find horribly embarrassing would seem perfectly normal, but you do not give up control over moral decisions. A person in ahypnotic trance can come out anytime they want to if they are asked to dosomething that goes against their moral values. Another use of hypnosis is in therapy. This is called hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy, as defined by Hunter is the use of hypnosis forself-improvement and/or the release of problems. All hypnotherapy employshypnosis, but not all hypnosis is hypnotherapy. Another definition isany form of psychotherapy practiced in conjunction with the hypnoticmodality, within that altered state of consciousness called a hypnotictrance(source unknown). Hypnotherapy has a wide variety of uses. Somesurgeons and anesthesiologists use it in controlling pain, relaxing thepatient, relieving postsurgical depression, and controlling nausea. It ishelpful in treating sexual disorders such as impotence and frigidity, andthe psychosomatic disorders. Treatment of problems using hypnosis hasbeen used throughout history. Anton Mesmer is considered the first modernhypnotherapist. He is the one to come up with the term animalmagnetism. .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432 , .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432 .postImageUrl , .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432 , .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432:hover , .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432:visited , .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432:active { border:0!important; } .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432:active , .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432 .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u979df3af7abdf6460fc953897d043432:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleleyev Was Born In The Town Of Tobolsk, Siberia EssaySome people believe that hypnotherapy can be used as a substitute forcognitive counseling.
